November has been challenging, but fun! This month I helped to create the PCB for the IR sensor circuit. This was challenging because of the restriction of our IR sensor circuit PCB to a single layer, meaning that careful consideration of component placement, track width and track placement was required. We chose to feature 4 IR sensors on the micro mouse so the given circuit for 2 sensors was doubled and the power and GND lines linked across the PCB. Additionally, I placed the 4 sensors roughly at each of the 4 corners of the circular PCB to enable roughly 360 degree sensing to be achieved, which will be important for obstacle avoidance and combat modes of the micro mouse.
